Domestic incineration fly ash

THE NEED FOR REFIOM TREATMENT

Flue gas from incineration of household waste is “scrubbed” or purified with reagents, usually lime or sodium bicarbonate, which capture the pollutants (heavy metals and various organic substances).
The resulting residue, referred to in French as “REFIOM,” cannot legally be disposed of directly in landfills.

REVATECH’S PATENTED SOLATECH® PROCESS

The SOLATECH® process offers both performance and flexibility.
It is actually a combination of various processes (physico-chemical treatment, partial or complete extraction of the soluble fraction, and solidification), and can be used for various types of REFIOM (with lime or sodium bicarbonate).

Further advantages include:

• lower consumption of reagents compared with conventional processes;

• limited quantities of final residues that have to be disposed of in landfills;

• real possibilities for recycling the sodium bicarbonate scrubbing residues (recycling of the soluble salts);

• prospects for recycling the final solidified residues.

INDUSTRIAL PLANTS USING THE SOLATECH® PROCESS

• REVATECH Monsin Division: operation of a solidification unit, with disposal of final residues in a landfill.

• RESOLEST: in combination with SOLVAY’s Neutrec® process, operation in the East of France of a treatment unit for sodium bicarbonate scrubbing residues, with recycling of the soluble salts.
Resolest is the fruit of collaboration between Solvay, Sita and REVATECH.
